The
biodynamic agricultural association
Presentation
The SABD is an agricultural trade union which " represents the organization with which the farmers (bio-dynamists) were equipped, in order to produce food who are more advantageous with the existence of the man, while looking after the natural, social, cultural and economic environment. "
In 2007, the SABD counts approximately 170 members.
The Trade union of Biodynamic Agriculture is a structure seeking to gather a maximum of professionals in order to have a weight in national authorities and to establish a network of producers.
The willpower is to share our experiments and to
help, to facilitate the meetings, to defend us and represent our interests, to
improve the practice of biodynamics and to make known it.
Objectives of the SABD

Activities of the SABD
Defense and representation
1. Our presence to the national authorities allows an official recognition of the biodynamy.
It is done in total dialogue with other national bio-dynamies associations.
●
Exchanges of
information and common actions are carried out with the "FNAB", "Nature et
Progrès", the "Simples", "le Réseau Semences Paysannes" and the other organizations
of the biological sphere : work on the new European settlement, lawsuits brought
against the French state for nontransposition of directives on the GMO, etc.
●
We have
representatives elected near the authorities such as the Bio Agency, the bio
committee of the INAO (National Institute of the Labels of origin), the ITAB
(Technical Institute of Biological Agriculture)
●
Contacts with
the Ministry for Agriculture to try to obtain exemptions for the use of the
organ of cows for the development of the préparats.
●
We form part of
the founder members of various associations working for the promotion and the
defense of agriculture and environment: ASAFI French section of the "IFOAM",
"Objectif Bio", "Terre de Liens", "Purin d'ortie & compagnie .....
Advise/Meeting and formations
2. Our action for the formation
● A BPREA mixed-farming breeding
adapted to the biodynamics is carried out in partnership between the SABD and the
CFPPA of Obernai : a formation qualifying over 2 years, to become
biodynamic farmer.

A module of 10
days biodynamics set up at the CFPPA of Die (26). Project 2008 for the CFPPA of
La Roche sur Yon (85) (Center of Vocational training For Adults).
●
We organize
with the Regions vocational trainings of groups by setting up the files of
request for subsidy like by ensuring the promotion of these formations at the
national level (Internet site, Formabio network...). A dozen formations take
place each year.
Exchanges and connections
3. Our action for the link between the biodynamists farmers
●
We publish a
newsletter quarterly containing information of the
trade-union life, information touching with organic agriculture, from the points of
view of biodynamists, the articles connecting biodynamic agriculture to its anthroposophic bases...
●
We support the
regional life by helping the regional groups of development of the
biodynamic preparations (organization of the exchange of plants and animal
organs between
the areas)
●
Annual
organization of regional meetings between farmers, for meetings and
technical exchanges.
●
Project of accompaniment of the bio-dynamics
farms in Alsace, supported by a
European financing: changes, successions, transmissions etc. This project is pilot and will be able to
be reproduce in other areas.

4. Our action for the assistance with agriculture biodynamic conversion
●
Formations of
introduction to biodynamic agriculture ;

Accompaniment
and sponsorship of the new members by experienced farmers of their area ;
●
Documentation
on the procedure to be followed to settle in biodynamics.

Setting in
connection between the farmers seeking to transmit their farm and those seeking a
place to settle.
●
To work with
the inventory of the problems of the farms on the level of
viability (economic problems and marketing), of the vivability (request of
association) and of the transmissibility (stop of activity).
Promotion and communication
5. Our action for the promotion of biodynamic agriculture
The SABD finalized in 2006 the rewriting of a work entitled " biodynamic agriculture: an alive culture ", prefaced by Jean Marie Pelt, published and distributed by the Movement of Biodynamic Culture. This work presents a total, ecological and human agricultural process.
Research and development
6. Our action for research
Creation with the Movement of Biodynamic Culture and Demeter, the mark of the products resulting from biodynamic agriculture, a group of Research on topics such as the preparations, the landscape, the manure, meteorology, the seeds... Activities : constitution of groups on the biodynamic bee-keeping, meteorology, the use of copper in vine growing, 2006 ; edition of a teaching sorter on the results of research for the biodynamic preparations in 2006 ; seminar in November 2005 on biodynamic agriculture and research ; travel on research in bee-keeping to Germany in February 2005, in the Netherlands in August 2005 in an institute of research and on farms which make experimentation ...
