History of biodynamic agriculture in France
1925: conversion of a first farm, in Alsace. 1939: right before the second world war, is created the Center Biodynamics of the Padded shutter, in Combining it. It will close in 1951. 1958 : foundation of the French association of Biodynamic Culture in Strasbourg, with a hundred members. 1965: creation of the " Letters to the Fields and Gardens Friends " which connects all the members of association. 1967 : creation of the French Union of the Regional Circles of Biodynamic Agriculture. 1975 : these 2 associations amalgamate under the name of Mouvement of Biodynamic Culture which will become the federation of regional associations of Biodynamic Culture. In the years 1970-80: development of biodynamic agriculture currently practised on approximately 300 farm. (200 farm with DEMETER mark or reconversion). From 1971 to 1986 : training courses are organized in Ormoy (France, 18). 1973: creation of the Trade union of Biodynamic Agriculture gathering the producers. 1979: creation of Association DEMETER France. 1990 : creation in Alsace, of a 2 years formation recognized by the Ministry for Agriculture (BPA Mixed-farming Breeding adapted to the bio-dynamy). 2000 : The national organizations of agriculture biodynamics are established in the buildings of the House of Agriculture Biodynamics in Colmar. 2003 : 220 producers, transformers and wholesalers are associated mark DEMETER is a surface of culture of approximately 4000 ha. One estimates between 350 and 400 firm which works completely or partially according to the methods biodynamics. The bio-dynamy experiences at the present time a strong development in vine growing, including on prestigious fields. 2003 : 30 regional associations and contacts relay the national organizations in France and in the French-speaking countries. The Biodynamis review counts 2500 subscribers.
